VR experiences incorporate socialization and connection

Two new VR offerings at Camarillo Health Care District incorporate virtual travel experiences -- one includes a virtual excursion like a tour of Buckingham Palace or kayaking at sunset, and the other offers a hands-on activity such as writing an Irish limerick or drawing a self-portrait on an infinite canvass in space. Both are focused on human connection, socialization and fun!
In the new VR Activity Club, join us on April 22 as we celebrate Earth Day. We’ll explore our wonderful planet, first by snorkeling virtually along the Great Barrier Reef and "swimming" with sea turtles. Then we'll visit mountains around the world, from Denali to Mount Fuji, climbing the highest peaks. A virtual birdwatching activity is planned and we’ll see how many bird species we can identify as a group.
If a day at the museum is more your speed, the VR Activity Club on June 27 will explore museums around the world! Visit the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, tour the National Portrait Gallery, where art and history meet, and enjoy a look into the Natural History Museum. Our activity encourages you to use your inspiration from these museum tours to draw a portrait in infinite space using the VR application Paint.
VR Activity Club meets four consecutive weeks with the same group of people, so you build connections and friendships while exploring the world virtually and participating in activities. Other activities include drawing, journaling, developing a musical playlist and writing a poem. An optional post-experience Snack & Chat allows time to get to know each other.
In the new VR Travel Club, join five others as you travel the world. You'll meet six consecutive weeks and each week is a different travel experience, from adventures in Asia, Europe and popular U.S. destinations, to Cuba and North Africa, South America and other places around the globe.
Over the six weeks, you'll get to know your travel companions. Each travel group will come up with its own name. Our first two clubs have taken on the monikers Nomads and Global Trips. Participants wear a lanyard with their group photo and club name.
